OUR VISION
OUR MISSION
BACKGROUND
PannaFoto Institute (Panna) is a non-profit organization committed to promoting a culture of openness through education in photography and visual storytelling.
Initially established with the supports of the World Press Photo Foundation in 2006 in Jakarta, Panna serves as a platform for education in photography and visual storytelling based on critical thinking skills.
Based on the relevance of Panna as an education institution, together with the development of photography’s ecosystem and Indonesian society in the digital era, the founders, management, and several alumni of Panna then felt the need to review the organization’s vision, mission, and goals. In a meeting on August 20, 2019 in Jakarta, attendees reformulated the vision of the organization as “To become an educational institution for photography and visual storytelling that is highly qualified and able to create individuals with open minds ”.
Within its long journey, Panna has conducted various workshops, seminar, photo exhibitions, an international photo festival, and photo book publications. One of the excellencies of Panna’s educational program is the alumni’s competency to compete and accomplish achievement in national and international level. Some of the alumni testified that Panna’s education does not only teach photography, but also encourages the improvement of their mindset.
Panna established partnerships with several partners in using photography to conduct advocacy and raise awareness on critical issues, such as climate changes and identity politic.
While embarking on a journey to education in photography and visual storytelling for approximately 13 years, we have established partnerships with national and international organizations as well as hundreds of individuals from various cultural backgrounds and identities.
